The Relationship Between Internet Adoption and Diabetes Prevalence in U.S. Counties
Abstract
The abstract and poster presented represent a larger study conducted using the 2021 American Communities Survey (ACS) and 2021 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). The aim of the study was to understand the relationship between Broadband Internet adoption and self-reported diabetes prevalence in U.S. counties. The findings suggest a significant relationship between Internet adoption and other social determinants of health on diabetes prevalence. The secondary aim of the research was to compare ordinary least square linear regression methods to machine learning methods to produce optimal modeling of the complex data. In April 2024, this study will be presented. Afterwards, the data and Python notebooks producing the results will be published.
